Equine Spirit Sanctuary hosts annual holiday horse party, fundraiser

Event includes free pony rides, petting corral, barn tours and refreshments

The public is invited to attend Equine Spirit Sanctuary's Annual Holiday Horse Party, Saturday, (Nov. 25) from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. This free event is a benefit for Equine Spirit Sanctuary. Bring your family and friends out for the party, which includes free pony rides for the kids featuring Kat, the magical unicorn horse (weather permitting). Visitors can also enjoy a grooming and petting corral with the sanctuary's miniature donkeys and holiday refreshments. Tour the decorated barn and meet the sanctuary's equines, including our newest residents Betty White, a 41-year-old Arabian mare, and her partner Alan.

Available as part of the fundraiser will be gift certificates donated by local area restaurants and shops along with a variety of arts and crafts, horse-related items and baked goods. Proceeds from all sales go to support the sanctuary's programs of horse rescue and rehabilitation, equine-assisted learning and therapy, therapeutic riding, and educational programs about horses.

Equine Spirit Sanctuary is located at 13 Los Caballos Road, just off the west end of Cuchilla Road and Los Córdovas. Since its inception in 2005, the sanctuary has provided rescue and rehab for over 70 horses, along with offering equine-assisted growth and learning and therapeutic activities, and educational clinics and workshops. The sanctuary is now home to almost 20 horses, miniature horses, miniature and standard-sized donkeys, and a pony. Join in the fun to kick off the holiday season.

Equine Spirit Sanctuary is a nonprofit organization, a volunteer-based healing center that believes in responsible horse ownership. The sanctuary is dedicated to the safety and welfare of all equines through a program of rescue, rehabilitation, relocation or permanent retirement; and through education, serves to establish a connection between equines and humans.
