Enviro brief: Climate report released

Posted

The Federal government released a sweeping report the day after Thanksgiving (Nov. 23) about climate change and the impacts on the United States.

The Fourth National Climate Assessment, produced by more than a dozen federal agencies, spells out the impacts and risks of climate change, as well adaptions.

"The impacts of climate change are already being felt in communities across the country. More frequent and intense extreme weather and climate-related events, as well as changes in average climate conditions, are expected to continue to damage infrastructure, ecosystems and social systems that provide essential benefits to communities," the opening paragraph of the report reads.

The Taos News will take a deeper dive into this story in the coming weeks and will continue to cover climate-related news.
