Edwin Concha has been named Taos Pueblo Governor and Gary Lujan as the tribe's War Chief for 2020, according to the respective tribal offices Thursday (Jan. 2).
Updated: Friday (Jan. 3). Edwin Concha has been named Taos Pueblo Governor and Gary Lujan as the tribe's War Chief for 2020, according to the respective tribal offices.
Concha served on the War Chief’s staff in 2006, He was also Lieutenant Governor in 2015 in Gov. Luis Romero’s administration and as War Chief in 2011. He is listed on Taos Pueblo's website as head of the Wilderness Department under the tribe’s Department of Natural Resources.
Gary Lujan ran the first Taos Pueblo tribal member-owned Land Eagle Gallery in the town of Taos and of late has been the director of trust land management and security for the Santa Fe Indian School.
Others named to the governor's staff include: Lt. Governor Antonio K. Mondragon, Tribal Secretary Joel Archuleta, 1st Sheriff Daniel P. Marcus, 2nd Sheriff Shulden Lujan, Head Fiscale James C. Lucero, Lt. Fiscale John T. Cordova, Fiscale Antonio T. Martinez, Fiscale Julian K. Suazo and Fiscale Aaron E. Romero.
Members of the War Chief's staff include Lt. War Chief Michael A. Martinez, War Chief Secretary Daniel R. Lucero, and staff members David Y. Cordova, Mahtao S. Chisholm, Sante M. Bernal, Abran L. Lujan, Jesse M. Winters, Wade J. Lujan, Devin M. Murphy, Richard J. Romero and Cory I. Lujan.
The tribal administration at Taos Pueblo holds office for one year, from January through December and are chosen by members of the all male tribal council.
