Donald John Godsoe,

Donald John Godsoe, Passed away on December 18, 2019 in the Trauma ICU Unit of University of New Mexico in Albuquerque. On November 20, 2019 Don suffered a traumatic injury to his spinal cord from a fall at his home in Arroyo Hondo, outside of Taos. Don was 73 years old and grew up in Boston. Don is survived by his loving wife, Freda French Godsoe, his stepson Justin Madison Smith and three young grandchildren, Skylar, Larkin and Milo, daughter in law Daniella. He also leaves behind many loving family and friends, so important to him. Don lived a free spirit life. He skied fearlessly in the Taos mountains he loved and knew so well for 50 years. He was widely respected as a designer, contractor of Adobe homes in the Taos area. During his so-called retirement, he took up golfing with the same fervor and energy he invested in all his creative pursuits. He and his team won the recent local Taos Golf Tournament sponsored by Rotary. His inner circle of close friends knew Don to always have a smile and a kind word or a really good joke, and only a few knew that he loved to draw and he wrote poetry.
An excerpt from one of his poems:
nights cool air now changing
heart beat quickens
today is not like the others
and time not my friend
the diamonds are not forever
joy once taken fro granted
how to except it’s end
Donald Godsoe
