The Taos Tigers cross-country teams hit the dirt running as both boys and girls took home the silver medal in their final home meet of the season.
Schools from Cimarrón to Valencia gathered at Kit Carson Park Saturday (Sept. 14) for the Taos Invite where several Tigers crossed the finish line in spots high enough to earn their second-place team finishes. The meet began at 7:30 a.m. with a community run, followed by a middle school race and a kids run before the high school teams hit the trail for their races.
Starting at Kit Carson Park, teams ran through the park and then out on the dirt roads near the Mabel Dodge Luhan home and back.
Taos sophomore Alyx Mastor won the girls overall race for the Tigers and Taos junior Eddie Duran was the top finisher for the Tiger boys, earning a fourth-place finish.
Both boys and girls place results were the same with Shiprock High School winning the meet, followed by the Tigers and Pecos High School, which took third.
The Tiger runners are now prepping for their upcoming meet on Saturday (Sept. 21) in Pecos at the Ron Valdez Memorial Invite.
