Posted

Following hours of questions and deliberations, the 8th Judicial District Court Nominating Commission chose four names to be sent to New Mexico Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham for her consideration to appoint the next judge.

Timothy Hasson, Floyd Lopez, Jeffrey Shannon and Elizabeth Travis were chosen out of a list of seven candidates who were given 30 minutes to answer questions from the committee on Friday (Nov. 1).

Lujan Grisham will have 30 days to make her final appointment decision on who will serve as judge in the position left vacant after Judge Jeff McElroy retired Oct. 31. Judge Emilio Chavez is now the chief judge in Taos District Court.
