If you've lamented the lack of environmentally friendly dry-cleaning in Taos - lament no more. Clean Taos Owners Nathan and Genevieve Oswald will provide a full array of laundry services - dry-cleaning, wet-cleaning, steam-pressing and wash/fold - at 206 Paseo del Pueblo Sur (just north of Smith's).
They hope to open on Tuesday (Sept. 17) but Genevieve said, "Please watch for our Open sign out front. We don't want to disappoint anybody if we don't manage to pull it all together by then."
What exactly is "wet cleaning"? "It's a brand-new technology that uses no chemicals," said Nathan. "But it's more water-efficient than home-washing machines that are rated 'water-efficient' and it works fine with a lot of materials like suede and silk that are labeled 'dry-clean only.'"
Clean Taos does linens as well: drapes, tablecloths, bed linens and similar large items. The Oswalds have also brought in state-of-the-art steam-pressing equipment that can handle just about any garment or fabric.
This will be Genevieve's second business venture in Taos. She co-owns Shree Yoga at 112 Camino de la Placita.
Watch for a more in-depth look at the Oswalds and their new business in the Sept. 19 edition of the Taos News.
