Taos Fall Arts Festival debuts its 25th year of local color

For a show that was installed over three days, the staff of the Taos Fall Arts Festival did a fairly good job showing what local artists entered in the annual exhibit which opened to the public Friday (Sept. 20) at the Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish Gymnasium on Don Fernando Street, Taos. Kicking off the reception, TFAF Board President Paul Figueroa announced the winners of various awards.

Sasha vom Dorp was among the first asked to the podium, honored by TFAF for being this year's official poster artist. He quickly thanked everyone for the award, but when pressed for more, he offered that he was uncomfortable with awards, saying this "it's not a competition." (For more on the awards, see Page 10.)

After the awards presentations, Christine Autumn, Dan Lizdas and Larry Audette played jazz as visitors and artists mingled amid a lavish spread of snacks and drinks. It was, as was overheard, "just like the old days." The show can be seen through Sunday (Sept. 29). Additional information on the show and associated activities can be found at taosfallarts.com.
