Opinion: Article served public

Although no one wants news like this, I thought the detail of John Miller's article "After the Jump" (The Taos News, May 2) truly served the public. We take much for granted. This story helped many to realize, I am sure, that skill, dedication, fearlessness and resources are all in high demand at times like this. We never want to ask - but must - what if it was someone we know? I am glad for the family of this young man that his body was retrieved so they can experience some level of resolution. On the other hand, the elements rule in Taos County and we are all subject to their power. Thanks for the article.
