Apache helicopters refuel in Taos

Six apache helicopters buzzed over the town of Taos Tuesday morning (June 13) and touched down at Taos Regional Airport – prompting residents to phone The Taos News with questions as to the presence of the wasp-shaped military choppers.

Here's the answer: A representative from Taos Aviation Services stated that the military helicopters belong to the U.S. Army and were making a pit stop to refuel at the Taos Regional Airport before continuing north toward Washington state.

"They're just transient," he said. "They were just stopping through for fuel."
