A decade (or so) of ‘Reservations’

For more than a decade, the humor of Ricardo Caté has brought the realities of life in Indian Country to the comics pages of The Santa Fe New Mexican. The publication’s sister newspaper, The Taos News, began reprinting the cartoons in April.

His “Without Reservations” has gained a devoted following in New Mexico and nationally. The Santo Domingo Pueblo artist has produced three books, spoken across the country at colleges and universities, and is a regular on the local karaoke circuit.

It all began in October 2006. He hasn’t stopped since, with his work gaining a sharper edge over the years, especially in the age of Standing Rock protests and Trump. Here, some of the best from the past decade. Enjoy.
