The 2018 Taos Fall Arts Festival is right around the corner and organizers want local artists to know the deadline for entry is fast approaching.

The festival’s only “Open Exhibition” is available to all artists residing in Taos County or exhibiting their work in Taos County galleries. Its theme this year is "Beyond the Horizon/ Más Allá del Horizonte” and is intended to encourage creativity and diversity.

Deadline for bringing artwork to be entered in the exhibit is Friday (Sept. 14) between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m. Bring artwork, submission forms and entry fee to the Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish Gym, 205 Don Fernando Street in Taos. The exhibit will be on view Sept. 21-30.

All mediums are welcome. The exhibit is not juried and is all inclusive. Each artist may enter one work – with the exception of jewelry and wearable art – plus one “miniature.” Work must have been created within the last two year period (September to September 2016-2018). When bringing work to be entered, be aware that all artists will be required to complete a W-9 form for potential sales. There will be forms available at the time of In-take and registration.

Entry fees are as follows:

• Miniature – a maximum size of 14 by 14 inches including frame $15.

• Work requiring one panel up to 42 inches in width $25.

• Oversize 2-D work requiring two panels $50 over 45 inches in width or 60 inches in length

• Jewelry – maximum 10 pieces $25.

• Wearable Art – maximum 3 pieces $25.

Artists who entered work in the 2018 Poster Artist call may deduct the cost of the poster image application from the Open Exhibition fee. There will be a list of poster call artists at check in.

All 2-D work must be framed and wired for installation. Gallery stretched canvas does not have to be framed but must be wired for installation. TFAF has no framing equipment on site. We do not wire or repair work not properly prepared for hanging.

The Taos Fall Arts Festival and the Town of Taos are not responsible for loss or damage of any work of art, no matter what the cause. Works of art are not insured while in the possession of the TFAF and the town of Taos. By submitting works of art to this exhibition and signing the Entry Form Agreement, each artist agrees to these conditions. Each artist must provide their own insurance if needed.

At the end of the exhibit work may be picked up at exhibit venue Oct. 1 from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. Please bring your receipt to pick up unsold work or send the receipt with a representative. Sold work may be replaced with a work of approximately the same size or smaller during the show. Artists will receive payment on sold work no later than two weeks after the close of the show on Sept. 30, 2018.

All photographic ink jet prints must be made with archival inks on archival paper or canvas.

All work must be for sale at a reasonable gallery or retail price. The artist will receive 60 percent of the retail sales price and the TFAF sales commission is 40 percent.
