56th Rodeo de Taos
This weekend (Aug. 9-10), the 56th Rodeo de Taos at the Taos County Sheriff’s Posse Arena will feature stocks from Nunn Frontier Rodeo and will start at 11 a.m. for the youth rodeo and 2 p.m. for the adults.Â

This weekend (Aug. 9-10), the 56th Rodeo de Taos at the Taos County Sheriff’s Posse Arena will feature stocks from Nunn Frontier Rodeo and will start at 11 a.m. for the youth rodeo and 2 p.m. for the adults.Â
Kids 6 years old or younger have free admission. For local entries in the rodeo, call 575-751-6769. For general entries, call 505-864-9426. The Taos County Sheriff’s Posse Arena is located at 230 Camino de la Merced at the intersection with Salazar Road.Â
5th Monte Verde Lake Regatta
At Angel Fire Resort Saturday (Aug. 9), the fifth annual Monte Verde Lake Regatta will feature paddle boards, kayaks and pedal boats all in a race for dominance in their category.
A new challenge is introduced to this year’s event: The ski boot marathon, wherein participants bring their ski boots and race. Prizes from the resort will be handed out to winners. Concessions and watercraft rentals will be available at the event.

Enchanted Circle Bike Ride
On Saturday (Aug. 9), the Enchanted Circle Bicycle Tour will travel through the Enchanted Circle Scenic Byway starting and ending in Red River.
Participants in the race will have the opportunity to ride either an 85-mile or a 100-mile century trail. The riders will get to see some of the most beautiful roads in the Southwest, with tough climbs, rolling hills, fast downhills and hairpin turns to tackle.
The deadline to register online has passed, but ride-day registration is available Friday (Aug. 8) from 4-8 p.m. and Saturday (Aug. 9) from 6-7:30 a.m. All registration includes an automatic donation to the Red River Valley Foundation. Law enforcement pistols match
On Sunday (Aug. 10), Roma Industries and Gunslingers will host the Taos County Law Enforcement Top Gun Pistols Match at the Gunslingers’ private shooting range on the Taos Mesa.
Registration opened July 15 for law enforcement officers in the surrounding area, and the event will have six stages with a hit factor scoring system. First-place winners will win a custom buckle and other prizes.
