For the first time in recent memory, the Taos Tigers sent a strong contingent of swimmers to state (nine qualifiers and an alternate). The state swimming competition includes all schools of every size and thus offers fierce competition.
In almost every race, the Tigers posted personal-best and season's-best times.
Grace Goler placed in the finals in the 50 Freestyle and took home a medal and swam in the B finals for the 100-yard Butterfly. Ashley McMains, who swam a best-ever time in the last race of her high school career, and the girls 400-yard Freestyle relay placed in the B finals.
In the finals, All-American Jack Hoagland of La Cueva broke the New Mexico record in the 200-yard Individual Medley by .03 seconds.
