Taos grapplers bring home 4th from Rio Hondo Classic

At the Río Grande Classic Saturday (Dec. 21), the Taos Tigers racked up 118.5 points, enough for fourth place out of 18 teams and only a point and a half away from Hobbs, who had 120.

Of the eight wrestlers who competed, five of them placed.

Mante Chacon was fifth in the 106 pound division; Tyler Valencia was second in the 138 pound class; Jessie Alaya was second in the 220 pound class; and both Dominic Lopez (285 pound) and Christopher Valencia (126 pound) took first place in their weight classes.

The Taos Tigers next compete Jan. 5 at the St. Michael’s Tournament.
