The Taos Tigers hit the diamond for the first time this season Wednesday night to take on the West Las Vegas Dons. Though it will be a short season, coaches, players and fans have their eyes on the State Tournament.

The Tigers next baseball home game will be May 8 versus Bernalillo. The first softball home game will take place on May 5 versus Raton.

The Tigers hit the field for the second half of a double header against West Las Vegas on Tuesday (April 27) night. At the bat, Senior Milo Colignon led his team, putting the bat on the ball twice and scoring 2 runs. Junior Martínez and Junior Jalen Montaño followed suit with a pair of hits apiece. Ultimately, however, it was not enough to overcome a late inning rally from West Las Vegas. Errors racked up as the team reached the end of its physical rope and the Tigers ended the game with 3 errors on the board. Montaño toed the rubber for most of the game, pitching 6 innings with 7 strikeouts, but surrendering 6 earned runs on 10 walks.

It wasn't fancy, but a consistent night at the plate brought the Tigers a victory in their first game at home this season. Despite a pair of late runs from the Dons, THS held on to pull out the 6-5 win. Though none of the Tigers got multiple hits, each of the team's 7 hits came from different players. Juniors Cruz and Martínez split pitching duties, each taking the mound for 3 innings and grabbing two strikeouts apiece. Senior Milo Colignon had an interesting night. The team leader was hit by a pitch, had two errors, two RBIs, a hit, two runs and a strikeout. Hunter Tafoya got the save.
