Disc golf tourney at Sipapu
Sipapu Ski Resort is hosting a disc golf tournament that started on Wednesday (Aug. 19) and ends on Sunday (Aug. 23).
At any time throughout the five-day tournament contestants can enter for a $35 admission fee for a round of disc golf, or $50 for a round of disc golf as well as a $20 meal voucher for use at resort food areas.
As for the tournament itself, competitors will have five days to complete a round of disc golf on Sipapu's 23-hole disc golf course, while submitting their scores virtually through a link sent out by the resort.
While there will be no referees throughout the tournament, the resort is asking that competitors be honest about the scores they do submit since prizes will be handed out to winners.
The resort is asking those that do attend to follow the state's COVID-19 guidelines, such as wearing masks, social distancing and coming in groups of no more than five people.

United gets a victory
New Mexico United defeated Colorado Switchbacks FC on Saturday (Aug. 15) 1-0 after a first half goal from Chris Wehan.
Wehan was able to get the goal past the Switchbacks goalkeeper after a nice pass from Amando Moreno.
United controlled a majority of the game - and looked much better than they did last Saturday (Aug. 8) at Phoenix Rising FC when they lost 5-2.
New Mexico, with the victory, remains atop of the Group C standings - and two points ahead of El Paso Locomotive FC, which United has defeated once already.
United will have played Real Monarchs SLC on Wednesday (Aug. 19) and will play them again on Saturday (Aug. 22).
NBA playoffs get underway
The NBA Playoffs got underway on Monday (Aug. 17) when the No. 3 Denver Nuggets and No. 6 Utah Jazz faced off in the first game of first-round action.
First round series will be played between 16 teams in the Eastern and Western conference.
Besides the Nuggets-Jazz series, the West will also feature first-round series between No. 4 Houston Rockets and No. 5 Oklahoma City; the No. 2 LA Clippers and No. 7 Dallas Mavericks; and the No. 1 Los Angeles Lakers and No. 8 Portland Trail Blazers.
As for first-round series in the Eastern Conference, the No. 1 Milwaukee Bucks and No. 8 Orlando Magic will face off; and the No. 3 Boston Celtics and No. 6 Philadelphia 76ers; and the No. 2 Toronto Raptors and No. 7 Brooklyn Nets; and the No. 4 Indiana Pacers and No. 5 Miami Heat.
All first-round series will go seven games if necessary - but the first team to win four games takes the series victory, and will advance.
