UPDATE:>> Tally: 8,024 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in New Mexico; 367 deaths

The New Mexico Department of Health has reported 227 new cases of COVID-19 in the state, for a total of 8,024 to date. Taos County now has 30 cases. The state also announced five additional deaths on Tuesday (June 2), for a total of 367 fatalities in the state.
Masks and gloves are provided to those who don’t have any upon walking into the voting area Tuesday (May 12) at the Taos County Administration Building.

Chief 8th Judicial District Court Judge Emilio Chavez approved a petition from the Taos County government on Tuesday (May 12) reducing the county's polling locations from 31 to 12 for the 2020 primary election. The county is encouraging residents to participate in early voting and mail-in absentee voting this year to help reduce the risk of infection during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

An unprecedented graduation

On Friday (May 15) evening, I quickly got the feeling that we are living in unprecedented times. What we're going through, this whole pandemic and all, is something we've never seen before. And watching my sister in her cap and gown, in the front yard of my parents' home in Albuquerque, waving at drivers in the cars who drove by to wish her congratulations, surely gave me that feeling.
