UPDATE:>> Tally: 7,364 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in New Mexico; 335 deaths

The New Mexico Department of Health has reported 108 new cases of COVID-19 in the state, for a total of 7,364 to date. Taos County cases remain at 24. The state also announced six additional deaths on Wednesday (May 27), for a total of 335 fatalities in the state.

New Mexico businesses can open in a limited capacity after several weeks of COVID-19 shutdown.  Since the end of March, restaurants, gyms, liquor stores and other businesses across the state were ordered to shut down to prevent the spread of the virus that causes COVID-19. Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham announced that an amended  emergency health order would reopen more of the economy as the rate of the spread of COVID-19 decreases.

An unprecedented graduation

On Friday (May 15) evening, I quickly got the feeling that we are living in unprecedented times. What we're going through, this whole pandemic and all, is something we've never seen before. And watching my sister in her cap and gown, in the front yard of my parents' home in Albuquerque, waving at drivers in the cars who drove by to wish her congratulations, surely gave me that feeling.
