It's back and it's more than just a festival returning to Taos after the pandemic forced its cancellation last year. According to local fiber artist Merce Mitchell, "the Taos Wool Festival is so much more than a fiber arts festival. It's a happening. People travel here from all over just to be part of it." Clearly, there are a lot of people happy to know that 'The Happening' is once again happening.

Last week, two-month old colt Golden Dragon was stolen from his home on the sweeping plains of Northern New Mexico. The foal was born to Bruno (father) and a buckskin named Delila at their stable on the Spirit of the Wild Horse Sanctuary.

According to Spirit of the Wild Horse representative Judy Barnes, Delila is anxious to get her little one back. The sanctuary believes Dragon may be being transported to the Denver area, but he may also be heading south into New Mexico...

Since 1998, I have often written to the Forest Service and the Taos News about the serious losses of water quality and quantity I have witnessed on the upper Río Fernando. I believe those losses were caused by the intensive federal grazing that has been scheduled there every year for decades.
