Age 92 of Valdez NM, died September 3, 2021. He was born October 10, 1928 in Scioto County, Ohio; to David D. and Leona (Wagner) Sullivan.  Henry graduated from Valley High School (Lucasville Oh) in 1946. He was inducted and served in the US Army during the Korean War.  Henry married Sandra (Campbell) Sullivan, January 21, 1961.  They had two sons; Craig D. Sullivan, and Dirk C. Sullivan.

Veterans, state and local leaders and members of the community gathered in the Village of Questa to honor fallen service members on Memorial Day (May 31), and dedicated a memorial for the late State Sen. Carlos Cisneros, D-Questa.

Nearly 150 people braved the rain at Questa Veteran’s Memorial Park to pay their respects to Cisneros, who served for 34 years in the state Legislature. Cisneros died of a suspected heart attack in 2019 at the age of 71.

The nonprofit Veterans Off-Grid in Carson, New Mexico, is a 50-acre compound dotted with Earthships, greenhouses and other structures designed from recycled materials. The group's goal is to help vets find housing and healing when they return from combat.

Saturday (March 27), more than 30 attendees gathered there to honor Puma, a retired military working dog who served two tours in Afghanistan as part of the Army's Patrol Explosive Detection. The memorial service included colors and a 21-gun salute by the American Legion Post 142, San Luís, Colorado.

Veterans experiencing homelessness in Taos are getting a helping hand thanks to the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development-VA Supportive Housing (HUD-VASH) Program and local property owners.

A new program through HUD-VASH would provide veterans with vouchers for rental assistance. It would also connect them, through VA case managers, to services such as healthcare, mental health treatment and substance abuse counseling. The program also extends to the families of these veterans.

A piece of World War II History made its way through town Saturday (Jan. 23) as an anti-aircraft artillery cannon was moved to its permanent home at Not Forgotten Outreach’s Veteran’s Living Memorial Park, located at 610 Paseo del Pueblo Norte.

I’m writing to give a public shoutout of gratitude to Ryan Timmermans, U.S. Army veteran and founder and executive director of Carson-based nonprofit Veterans Off-Grid, for hauling 6 tons of “glassphalt” to my place in Two Peaks to pave my dirt driveway and the road in front of the house.
