Kit Carson Electric Cooperative took another step towards its goal of generating 100 percent daytime solar power.

KCEC, in partnership with the privately held renewable energy developer Torch Clean Energy, secured funding to develop 21MW of solar capacity and 15MW of solar storage, bringing them closer to their goal months earlier than planned.

The Village of Questa has long been a local leader in solar energy production

As the Mayor of the Village of Questa, I was surprised by Michael Tashji’s article in the Feb. 11 issue of the Taos News titled “Solar energy lights the way forward in Questa” with its implication that solar was new to Questa. I was also surprised by Bill Baron’s cartoon in the same issue with the caption, “Ghost of the carbon footprint,” implying that Questa had now finally started “mining the sun.”
