Taos High School Class of 2021, along with their families and school administrators, celebrated their hard-fought graduation on Saturday (May 29) on Anaya Field. Despite a global pandemic, Taos Tigers showed their indomitable spirit, and excelled in and out of the classroom. Congratulations to all!

When I was approached to do a commemorative issue, reflecting on a year of the COVID-19 pandemic, my first impulse was to write about a year spent in my pajamas, working from home, but in all seriousness, this year has taken a terrible toll on all of us, whether we spent it working in our pajamas or wearing PPE.

Taos rocked the nation (and quite possibly the world!) with our yearlong "Remarkable Women of Taos" campaign in 2012, celebrating Northern New Mexico's wonderful women - mothers, educators, artists, organizers, legislators of every stripe and more.

"Taos Woman" magazine, published by the Taos News every year since 2012, also created the annual Taoseña Awards for eight women of impact, nominated and ultimately chosen for recognition by a committee of their peers - previous Taoseña Award honorees.

Community members gathered Saturday (Dec. 21) on Taos Plaza for a memorial unlike any other of the year - to honor and memorialize the homeless men in the community who have died. Each year, Taos faith leaders and friends hold a ceremony to ensure they are not forgotten.
