Early this morning (May 31), Stray Hearts Animal Shelter was broken into. According to Stray Hearts executive director Donna Karr, the person kicked in the doors on the greenhouses – or pods – which are used as kennels for the dogs, letting many of the dogs loose.

Along with the breaking of the doors, the person also turned on all of the facets, flooding the kennels.

Karr said that all but two of the animals have been accounted for, and are looking for the public’s help in finding Lady, a blonde husky, and Moonshine, a German Shepherd mix.

Off-duty staff came in to help with the corral and clean up the flooding. According to Dr. Trish Albin from Salazar Vet, who came in to check on the animals after the chaos, several dogs were injured in scuffles, but none seriously.

This might be the most heinous event I've heard about recently, and there have been some doozies.

I'm far from a detective, but I'm going to say somebody has a beef with the shelter.

Find another way. It's the animals that will suffer from this way.
