The following is a condensed list of reports made to Taos Central Dispatch within the Town of Taos from Jul. 30-Aug. 3, 2025.
JULY 30
5:20 a.m. Trespassing, Paseo del Pueblo Sur — Caller reported a man on the side of a grocery store, “next to where they roast green chili” was “cussing out an employee” and refusing to leave. Police sent the man on his way.
1:59 p.m. Information Report, Camino de la Placita — A male individual got his RV caught on a power line and split the pole and a tree. Power lines were exposed and touching the truck, but no fire was reported. Kit Carson was dispatched.
7:18 p.m. Shoplifting, Paseo del Pueblo Sur — Caller reported a female shoplifter in her 20s or 30s, wearing all black and glasses, stole a bottle of alcohol.
10:26 p.m. Information Report, Paseo del Pueblo Sur — Caller advised she had a temporary restraining order against her ex-boyfriend, and he followed her out of a local store, recording her. A responding officer separated the individuals.
JULY 31
12:52 p.m. Disorderly Conduct, Paseo del Pueblo Sur — Caller said a male individual who was “short with a lot of bags” was being beligerent. The individual left before police arrived.
5:26 p.m. Information Report, Paseo del Pueblo Sur — Caller advised a male in his late teens got into her vehicle, which she thought he may’ve mistaken for another. The male was nonverbal and appeared to be drunk. Police located the juvenile’s family, who said he has a history of wandering.
AUG. 1
9:09 a.m. Larceny, Paseo del Pueblo Sur — Caller said someone stole a weedeater from the back of their truck at a local hardware store. Police said they would request surveillance footage.
3:34 p.m. Fire, Wildland, Randall Lane — Caller reported smoke from Apache Lane. When police arrived, they found “about an acre burning along with two large trucks burning.” Firefighters arrived and extinguished the blaze.
AUG. 2
7:29 a.m. Disorderly Conduct, Albright St. – Caller advised there was a male in a brown jacket and black jeans screaming and throwing rocks at vehicles. The man moved from the bus stop to the entrance by the statue and continued to throw things. An officer made contact with a male matching the description and was advised that he was not throwing rocks.
4:12 p.m. Disturbing the Peace, Ranchitos Road – Caller said there were three kids shooting fireworks at houses. An officer made contact and witnessed a firework being shot.
11:16 p.m. Loitering, Paseo del Pueblo Sur Road – Caller said they were handed a backpack that smelled highly of alcohol before the person went to sit on the bench outside. The backpack was thrown into a trash can, and the subject was taken to the NEST.
AUG. 3
12:32 a.m. Theft of Motor Vehicle, Bent St. – Caller reported his vehicle stolen, last seen a few hours prior. Caller left keys in the vehicle, a white Honda truck.
9:18 a.m. Trespassing, Paseo del Pueblo Sur – Caller reported a homeless encampment off Amor Lane. The subject was packing up their belongings and leaving when the officer arrived.
