Public help needed to find missing Peñasco man

Uvaldo V. Lopez Jr. has been missing since Aug. 22.

Correction: the search is being organized by the Taos County Sheriff's Office, not Lopez's family.

The Taos County Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s help in locating Peñasco resident Uvaldo V. Lopez Jr., whose truck was located in the Llano San Juan Mountain Range in Peñasco on Aug. 22.

He was last seen wearing U.S. Forest Service issued green pants, black and grey New Balance tennis shoes and a grey t-shirt with an unknown print. Lopez, 46, is 6’2”, described as having a stocky build, weighing about 240 pounds with hazel eyes and salt and pepper hair.

Lopez is a member of Taos Ski Valley Inc., where he is lovingly referred to as “UV” by friends and coworkers.

Search and rescue efforts are being coordinated by Sheriff Hogrefe, who can be reached at 575-737-6480. Lopez’s family is looking for volunteers to help in the search this Friday and Saturday (Sept. 3 and 4).

This is a developing story.
