Construction is set to resume Monday (April 12) on NM-68 / US-64 (Paseo del Pueblo). According to a statement from the New Mexico Department of Transportation, the initial ‘phase 1’ has been completed and ‘phase 2’ is set to begin Monday morning at 7 a.m. The construction will run 7 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, though the statement said crews may work weekends as needed.
Traffic will be most impacted on Paseo del Pueblo Sur, where traffic will be reduced to one lane in both the north and south directions. Construction will start from the La Posta Road and Cervantes Street intersection and continue north to the intersection of Siler Road and Los Pandos Road.
The statement advised the people travelling through the area “should expect delays and obey the 25 miles per hour speed limit.”
The NMDOT said that the project was “designed to correct physical and geometric deficiencies” as well as ease congestion and make ADA compliant improvements to the sidewalks. The department said the project will have several additional phases and it is expected to reach completion by late 2022.
