The COVID-19 pandemic prompted mass cancelations of the summer traditions, concerts, fiestas and festivals that Taos is known for. Visitors and locals in Northern New Mexico adapted, seeking refuge from the pandemic and the summer heat in a range of ways. They escaped to the river, late-night movies, with loved ones and in wild, wide-open spaces. Sometimes with great care, and sometimes in risky denial. These are some of the moments that comprised summer 2020.
