Since I have no faith in the good intentions of the Design Workshop and their comment process, I want to voice my opposition to their "Master" Plan for the Kachina Basin in the public domain.
All I know is that the people who love the mountains as they are, are sickened each time we go up to these previously relatively intact mountains and forest on the upper Rio Hondo, and are bombarded with the latest habitat destruction, which seem to increase with each passing week. The traffic and noise are an insult to the spirit of the place. Peace and solitude is the very thing we go to the mountains for.
If we allow the Kachina Basin to be "developed" and its water diverted for commercial gain, we will lose it forever. Inch by inch, and acre by acre, it will all be whittled away. Becoming a manicured playground for the rich, and the wildlife will retreat where it can, and be supplanted by hordes of recreationists.
