Passed away on March 3, 2023, at his home in El Prado, NM at the age of 93. He was born in Dixon, NM, on September 17, 1929, to Fedilino and Luisita Gonzales Martinez, Victor is preceded in death by his sons, Angelo and Dennis Martinez, parents, Fedilino and Luisa G Martinez, brothers, Bences, Edwardo and Willie, sisters, Olivama Martinez and Olivia Vaclavik. He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Lydia Martinez, step children, Catherine Medina, Victoria (Mike) Espinoza, Edward (Marsha) Medina, biological children, Vicky (Jim) Watkins, Larry (Natalie) Martinez, Laurie (Steve) Wolfel, Sylvia Mangrum, Ted (Michelle) Martinez, Ruby (Dan) Susaeta, Jeffrey Chidester, brother, Horacio Martinez, very close cousin, Vangie Gonzales whom we considered a sister, 23 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren and many other nephews, nieces and family. Victor worked as a miner in Gillman, CO and in construction and gardening. Victor had lots of hobbies, from making the best sweet rice, goat cheese, spearmint and peppermint teas. He loved to garden and grow vegetables and take care of his yard, mowing the lawn, feeding the birds, feeding all the neighbors' dogs, Victor was a very talented wine maker. During the summer you could find him picking choke cherries for the best wine you will ever have. Victor loved his beans and chili, coffee, and Milwaukee's Best. He would always have a bowl of candy for the kids, and a cup of homemade "vino" for the adults. Victor had a kind heart and a gentle personality and will be missed by many. Rosary will be recited on Monday, March 20, 2023 at 10 AM with Memorial service to follow at Rivera Chapel in Taos. Interment will be held on Tuesday, March 21, 2023 at 11 AM at the Dixon Catholic Cemetery. Arrangements by Rivera Family Funeral Home.
