Mrs. Lillian L. Lujan passed away peacefully on Monday, March 6, 2023 at her home in Taos Pueblo, New Mexico. Mrs. Lujan was a 104 year old proud Dine woman of the Ashiihi (Salt) clan from Coalmine, Arizona, born for Naashtezhi Tabaaha (Zuni Edgewater) in the winter of 1918. She attended Albuquerque Indian School and New Mexico Highlands University - Las Vegas. After graduation, she joined the Women’s Army Corps (WAC) and served as a Sergeant in Detachment 3809 Service Command Unit until her honorable discharge. Once World War II ended, she married Jimmy K. Lujan, Sr. (US Bataan Death March Survivor) and had four children. Mrs. Lujan worked throughout the Navajo Nation with the Bureau of Indian Affairs aiding in job placement, teaching home economics and helping with local 4H Club functions. She is survived by her son, Jimmy K. Lujan Jr. and his wife Lucy M. Lujan (Fruitland, New Mexico), daughters Marilyn L. Atcitty (Flagstaff, Arizona) and Karilyn L. Haozous (Albuquerque, New Mexico). She was a beloved grandmother, great grandmother and great great grandmother. Mrs. Lujan is preceded in death by her husband Jimmy K. Lujan, Sr.; parents Mr. and Mrs. Charlie Young; and son Jeffery E. Lujan. Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 9, 2023 from 3:00 PM – 7:00 PM at Rivera’s Family Funeral Home in Taos, New Mexico. Military burial honors will follow on Friday, March 10, 2023from 10:30 AM – 11:30 AM at the Santa Fe National Veterans Cemetery.
