Our beautiful and precious wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, Josephine “Josie” Garcia, peacefully went to be with Our Dear Lord on Friday, January 8th, 2021, she was surrounded by her loving family. Josie, as she was known by all, was a very loving and caring person who touched all the people she met with her kindness and sweet disposition. Josie was married to the love of her life, Amadeo Ray Garcia for 68 years. During their life together, they enjoyed traveling to all parts of the world and just enjoying life. They are the perfect example of what “True Love” as a couple can be. Josie retired from working as a head cook at the Ranchos/Talpa schools. After retirement, she raised her grandchildren and great grandchildren, whom she adored and they adored her dearly. Josie is preceded in death by her parents, Andres and Maria Medina, her siblings and their spouses, Ernest (Ida) Medina, Willie (Susie) Medina, Marina (Demetrio) Herrera, Elma (Ray) Suazo. Nephews, Andy and Demetrio Herrera, Jr, Leroy Herrera Jr, Gilbert Padilla Jr. nieces Barbara Pacheco and Heavenly Grace Andrews. Son in law, Ernest Gomez. Josie is survived by her husband, Amadeo Ray Garcia, her children, Jeannette (Ray) Rael, Nancy Gomez, Lawrence Garcia, Marie (Thomas) Padilla. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Raelynn Rael (Issac Valerio), Valerie (Eloy) Montoya, Brandon Rael (Tori Fuentes), Michael Gomez, whom she raised and considered as a son. Her two great grandchildren, Mateo and Brianah Montoya. The family would like to thank everyone for their kind words of sympathy, phone calls, food, and monetary gifts. Special thanks to the staff of Taos Mountain Home Health Care and to Rivera’s Funeral Home for the respect and care that they gave to our Mother. A private family service will be held with interment to follow at the Santa Fe National Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, the family asks a contribution be made to the Cancer Society.
