Age 83, died June 26, 2021 in Colorado Springs, Colorado. He was born May 4, 1938 to Luis and Asencion (Cortez) Tafoya in Ranchos de Taos, New Mexico. Ismael worked in maintenance for the Air Force Academy and was a veteran of the United States Air Force. He is preceded in death by his parents, Luis and Asencion Tafoya; maternal grandparents, Luis and Francesquita Cortez; paternal grandparents, Francisco and Marina Tafoya; brothers and sisters, Diana Becerra, Elena Tafoya, Florentino Tafoya, Cordelia Trujillo, Emelina Tafoya, and Victor Lucio Tafoya; daughter-in-law, Elizabeth Tafoya (Morgan); grandchildren, Christina Joanna Tafoya and Dean Joseph Tafoya; and the mother of his children, Mary O. Trujillo. Ismael is survived by his sons, James R. Tafoya, Mark F. (Angel) Tafoya, and Gerald M. (Nicole) Tafoya; fourteen grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; sister, Nellie Elena Pacheco; and his brother, Jose Luis Tafoya.
