Gilbert Martinez

Age 85, went to his heavenly home on May 3, 2023. He passed away peacefully after a lengthy illness surrounded by his loving family. He is preceded in death by his parents Manuel and Eloida Martinez; his in-laws Urban and Emily Romero; his siblings Ursula, Manuel (Tony), Nick, Betty and Alex. Gilbert proudly served his country in the United States Air Force and the Army National Guard.  He was also employed by Moly Corp Mine for 25 years, from which he retired. He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years Rosie Martinez; children Francina (Martin), Tammy, Gilbert, Jr. (Doreenda) and Jose (Debbie); his siblings Claudio (Angie), Mary (Nelson), Norman (Ruby), Mannie (Michael), and sister-in-law Olivia Martinez; 10 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Rosary will be recited on Thursday, May 11, 2023 at 6pm in the Evergreen Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home of Taos.  Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, May 12, 2023 at 10am at San Francisco de Asis Catholic Church.  Burial will take place on Monday, May 15, 2023 at 1pm at the Angel Fire Veterans Cemetery.
