T-Mobile has partnered with Taos Municipal Schools in the spirit of giving back to the community.

On Thursday (Sept. 24) from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., students in Taos will be able to pick up free school supplies – and food – from either Taos High School, Taos Middle School, Enos Garcia Elementary School, Ranchos Elementary School and Arroyos del Norte Elementary School.

Free school supplies will also be available at bus stops, where food is dropped off throughout the town.

Lillian Torrez, superintendent of the TMS district, said that the free school supplies will be given in backpacks to students. She said T-Mobile had reached out to local schools and asked what was needed, to which the principals of each school sent a list of needed items.

The fact that T-Mobile is giving back to a community such as Taos means a lot, Torrez said.

"When a company reaches out and takes action without adding a burden to our already overwhelmed and taxed public school system, it is really incredible to see the difference it can make for our children," Torrez said. "These backpacks full of supplies are essential, not only to continue daily remote learning instruction, but the social emotional affect that it has on our children to put smiles on their faces and show them how much we love and care for them – that is priceless."
