Police Blotter

The following is a condensed version of Taos Central Dispatch reports for the town of Taos from July 7-13.

July 7

8:45 a.m. Suspicious Circumstances, Sierra Vista Lane - Caller said someone was in the neighborhood the previous night and was going through residents' vehicles, and the caller said they had it on camera. Some vehicles appeared to be searched through but nothing was taken.

10:46 a.m. Property Found, Mondo Italiano - Caller said they found needles near the front door of the restaurant. The owner requested patrols throughout the night.

4:38 p.m. Harassment, Spin and Sparkle Laundromat - Caller said a woman in a white dress threatened to kill her after the caller refused to give her a ride.

8:32 p.m. Alcohol Offense, Smith's - Caller said a woman left the store upset because they wouldn't sell her alcohol and she left drunk in a car, heading north. The woman was arrested.

July 8

1:03 a.m. Welfare Check, Bent Street - Caller said they heard a woman screaming in the area. An officer did hear several screams but was unable to locate anyone.

2:08 p.m. Larceny, Ace Hardware - Caller said at some point the previous night someone had stolen outdoor equipment.

4:11 p.m. Psychiatric Behavior, Paseo del Pueblo Norte - Caller said a man was yelling and walking in the street. He was detained and taken to Holy Cross.

July 9

9:38 a.m. Information Report, Kit Carson Road - Caller wanted to speak with an officer about a dump truck dumping dirt in the parking lot by the horses. It appeared the dirt was for filling potholes in the lot.

12:07 p.m. Disturbing the Peace, Shell - Employee said six homeless individuals were fighting outside and one man who appeared to be injured came in and asked to call 911.

1:25 p.m. Assault, Taos Democratic Party Headquarters - Caller said there were two females outside arguing about the Democratic party and one lady had a stick while the other appeared drunk.

3:41 p.m. Information Report, Liebert Street - Caller said he thought someone was dead at a residence because it smelled like "boiled feet." Officers did not make contact with anyone deceased, but found a plant near the road that was putting off a "horrible smell."

11:36 p.m. Information Report, Dave's Custom Cycles - Caller said she saw individuals on the security cameras trying to break down the cameras.

July 10

1:14 a.m. Alcohol Offense, Hotel La Fonda - Employee advised a guest who seemed highly intoxicated was yelling and screaming and left the hotel on foot. When an officer made contact, the man stated he had somewhere to be and started screaming into the police unit to not hurt him. He then took off on foot, but was located several hours later and taken to Holy Cross.

8:57 a.m. Information Report, Paseo del Pueblo Norte - Caller said that a gallery across from Kit Carson Park has been throwing parties all night until 4 a.m. and wanted an officer to see if they could keep the music down.

1:24 p.m. Trespassing, Spin and Sparkle - Caller said there was a hippie in the facility saying she was in the CIA and wanting to use the bathroom, but it is for employees only. The woman left prior to the officer's arrival.

3:11 p.m. Disturbing the Peace, Walmart - Caller said a man when into the store and was upset about the coin machine not working and punched the door while leaving, breaking it.

8:43 p.m. Harassment, Speedway - Caller said she observed two men attempting to shoplift beer, and she told them to put it back and leave, which they did, but she then overheard one of the men saying "we could have fun with her tonight." Another witness in fear for the cashier called 911 before the men left.

July 11

1:06 p.m. Disturbing the Peace, Elevation Coffee - Caller said a woman who seemed extremely agitated was disturbing people at the business, and tried to take someone's baby. Contact was made.

2:48 p.m. Suspicious Circumstances, Paseo del Pueblo Sur - Caller said a man in a BMW was sitting in his car by the car wash for some time. He stated he was simply waiting out the storm as he had just washed his car.

9:20 p.m. Shots Fired, Camino del Medio - Two separate callers said they heard about six shots fired, possibly coming from the area of Camino de la Merced.

July 12

6:24 a.m. Psychiatric Behavior, Holy Cross - Caller said a man wearing a red t-shirt and grey shorts walked into the emergency room and defecated all over and then walked out. Caller said the man was having mental issues.

2:51 p.m. Suspicious Circumstances, Calle del Sol - Caller said a black sedan drove up and several guys got out and began knocking on the door asking to use the phone at their neighbor's house. No contact was made.

5:22 p.m. Disturbing the Peace, John Dunn Shops - Caller said two kids wearing black hoodies were biking in the area and being rude, almost running into people, and refusing to stop. No contact was made.

July 13

12:50 a.m. Information Report, Don Fernando Street - Caller said she shared a Facebook post and wanted to know if it was legal for people to talk about her post to other people. She was advised to block the person she was having problems with.

4:39 p.m. Traffic Stop, Shell - White Nissan was pulled over, and one person was arrested. A backpack and a bag of cocaine were taken as evidence.

8:35 p.m. Welfare Check, Smith's - Man was lying on the sidewalk highly intoxicated. He was taken to Holy Cross.
