Aden is a handsome fella who is ready to listen to all your troubles, though he may not give good advice. Meet him at Stray Hearts Animal Shelter.

March 28 - April 7, 2021

The animal shelter, which serves Taos and Taos County, has bought a used modular building that will be retrofitted into a veterinary clinic, according to executive director Donna Karr. The shelter also is working to hire a full-time veterinarian, which will help with care of shelter animals and an ultimate goal of free spay and neuter services for the cats and dogs of low-income families.

Karr said the shelter also wants to increase the number of vaccine clinics. "We are starting to see canine distemper cases popping up and feline panleukopenia is showing up in a feral cat colony at a local mobile home park," Karr said in a recent email.
