Eager early-season crowds rode the first chairlifts at Taos Ski Valley and Sipapu Ski and Summer Area on their opening days Wednesday (Dec. 9) and Thursday (Dec. 10) respectively. Under Taos County's current "red level," the state's framework for reopening businesses mandates that ski resorts operate at 25 percent capacity. Prior to scheduling opening dates, the resorts were also required to get their employee COVID-19 testing procedures approved by the state.
