Housed in what was once the Placitas Chapel, a little Catholic Church built during the 1800’s, The Love Apple is the brainchild of Jen Hart, who grew up here in Taos and cut her restaurateur teeth, managing the highly acclaimed Joseph’s Table, before opening this gem.

The intimate, charming and beautifully appointed space

is tiny, and fills up fast, especially in winter when the patio

is closed. This summer, until further notice, only the

charming patio remains open, but do make a reservation well in advance.

Informed by her travels to Europe and Paris in particular, Jen’s aesthetic and attention to detail, along with her commitment to local organically grown, farm to table produce and excellent, organic and biodynamic wines, has blessed Taos with a world class bistro. A favourite of locals and returning visitors alike, it has become a destination spot for those in the know.

The menu changes seasonally and you can rest assured that the food is always fabulous, emphasizing local, organic home cooking. The Love Apple works with local growers and ranchers and uses only organic and grass fed meats and poultry in their recipes.

“We believe in working in conjunction with local growers and artisan producers to create menus which feature our regional bounty and exclusively highlight local food.” reads the introduction to their website. “We honor quality and the process of creating simple, delicious food.”

Hart also owns Manzanita Market on Taos Plaza. Where her farm to table sensibility spills over in this equally popular, and unpretentious breakfast and lunch spot, with patio seating, currently a big draw.

But Love Apple is where Hart’s creative, yet traditional approach to food and dining shines in its deceptively simple presentation and understated elegance.

Great service, terrific and interesting food, plus extentive wine and beer lists will keep you returning for more.

A not to be missed food experience in a town known for its fabulous eateries!

Do be sure to make a reservation but leave your plastic behind. The Love Apple accepts cash and checks only.
