I am writing in response to William E. Cordova's comments about AnJanette Brush's role as the Democratic vice chair being a candidate. First and foremost, Brush has basically recused herself from her duties by stepping aside during the campaign. There is no conflict there. more
To the Taos Community: It is with sincere regret and a saddened heart that I am announcing the closure of the Taos Taekwondo Academy. Due to the legitimate concerns and fears related to the COVID-19 virus as well as the required closing of all nonessential businesses until at least May 1, I am at the point that it is no longer financially viable for me to keep the taekwondo school open. more
My husband and I are 30-year-plus longtime Taos aficionados, and as of several years ago we bought property and plan to retire in Taos. We met Dolores Lujan around 10 years ago through a mutual friend … more
Taoseños boycott local gas stations! I am sick and tired of the long Taos tradition of being exploited by the local monopoly of gas stations, led by Speedway which follows Smith's lead. more

Mr. Trump, you have stood before our nation and the world spewing out contradictions, misinformation, lies, blathering bravado and self-aggrandizement to Americans daily while all the major epidemiologists and virologists say your administration's response to COVID-19 was greatly delayed, ineffective and that your public pronouncements were detrimental to the health of Americans and containment of COVID-19. more
Regarding short-terms rentals: Although I understand that short-term rentals are an income source for many homeowners in Taos, licensed or unlicensed, in this environment they are also a lure for people from other states to come to Taos because of our, so far, low infection rate. more

We have all heard by now of the severe shortage of personal protective equipment for health care workers on the front lines fighting COVID-19. This means gloves, gowns and, most importantly, masks - especially N95 masks. And yet, today at Smith's, I saw many people in N95 masks while shopping. more
Dear U.S. Senators, Congressmen/women and the President, The Production Defense Act and other humanitarian actions must now be enacted fully by President Trump. The Senate and Congress must act to insure this happens now. For too many years the USA tax money has gone for wars with untold billions of dollars given to defense contractors for weapons of mass destruction. more
To the community of Angel Fire: My heart is heavy as I write this statement. We are living in an unprecedented time and every single one of us is affected mentally, physically and, most of us, financially. In view of the onerous climate threat and the myriad examples of its devastating effects all over the world, it seems it would surely be in Taos’ best interest to seriously consider amending land-use requirements in Taos County and the town of Taos. more
Family Dollar in El Prado would be the fourth of its kind within a few miles. I was shocked to learn in the Taos News that Don Rumsfeld spoke out and said no to the store. Seems to me he tried at one time to make the whole earth look like aisle six and aisle four of this same chain store. When it came to a new one near his land in Taos, he was moved to speak. And, no one threw a shoe. more
