Meetings this week: County votes on El Prado's historic status and consider DWI planning council

The county will finally vote on whether to establish El Prado as a traditional historic community and will also consider a resolution establishing a county DWI Planning Council.

Taos County:

  • Taos County Board of Commissioners Regular Meeting: Tuesday, Jan. 19 at 9 a.m.
    • There will be COVID updates from Dr. Alana Benjamin from Taos Community Medical COVID Task Force, and Bobby Lucero with the Office of Emergency Management.
    • The commissioners will continue discussion from the last meeting regarding the establishment of El Prado as a traditional historic community. They will also vote on the official boundaries for the historic district.
    • The commissioners will also consider a resolution establishing a Taos County DWI Planning Council.

  • Taos County Planning Commission Regular Meeting: Thursday, Jan. 21 at 10:00 a.m.
    • The planning commission will vote on the new Chairperson and Vice-chairperson as well as discuss rezoning a lot off Calle Filiberto for Solstainable Builders LLC.

Enchanted Circle IGC:

  • Enchancted Circle Intergovernmental Council Meeting:Thursday, Jan. 21 at 10:30 a.m.
    • Taos County, Colfax County, Questa, Angel Fire, Red River and the town of Taos will come together to hear presentations on behavioral health grants for the area.

Taos Municipal Schools:

  • Board of Education Regular Meeting: Wednesday, Jan. 20 at 6 p.m.
    • The meeting will include updates from the administration and superintendent, and the board will discuss Taos Municipal Schools and Taos Pueblo Native American Indian policies and procedures among other things.
