The New Mexico Department of Health announced 5,212 new cases of COVID-19 on Friday (Jan. 14), including 56 new cases in Taos County.

The state also reported 36 additional deaths on Friday (27 recent deaths and nine additional deaths added from from within the past 30 days), bringing the total since the start of the pandemic in New Mexico to 6,145. No new deaths were reported for Taos County, leaving the total county-wide deaths at 75. The most recent person to die from COVID-19 was a female in her 70's who was hospitalized.

Total cases statewide now stand at 398,939 with 323,199 cases designated as having recovered by the New Mexico Department of Health. Currently, 586 individuals are hospitalized with COVID-19 in the state.
