The Town of Taos has named Conny Clay and David Trujillo as the two finalists in the running to become the next Town of Taos Police Chief.
Town officials expect to make a selection tomorrow, Tuesday (Aug. 29) following a public forum that will be held with the candidates in the council chambers starting at 4:45 p.m.
Trujillo has served with the Taos Police Department for more than 17 years and currently holds the rank of sergeant.
Clay served as an "acting chief" and deputy for seven years at the Shawnee Police Department in Shawnee, Oklahoma, and a police chief for six years at Choctaw Police Department, also in Oklahoma.
Unlike Clay, Trujillo had not been in the running for the position for the duration of the protracted selection process, which began in April.
Town of Taos Human Resources Director Tamara Chavez said that the job remains "an open position until filled," meaning that anyone is eligible to throw their hat into the ring before a selection is made.
