Albuquerque resident Kathy Valerio visited the grave of her grandfather, Leonardo Valerio, in Talpa on Saturday (May 13), as she does whenever she is back in town.
She was dismayed to find that someone had stolen the 3-foot-tall ceramic statue of the blue- and white-clad Virgin Mary she had placed there a couple of years ago. "I don't think that's right. You don't go around robbing graves," said Valerio.
She hopes whoever took the statue will return it to the grave.
Until then, Valrerio said, "I want to say to the person who robbed the grave and took the statue, 'Enjoy it and may you rot in hell.'"
