Robin Martin, owner of The Taos News, was inducted into the New Mexico Press Association Hall of Fame at a ceremony held Saturday (Sept. 27).

Martin was honored for the significant contributions she has made to the newspaper industry in New Mexico.

She was honored at the New Mexico Press Association’s 106th annual convention held at the Hyatt Tamaya.

Two of Martin's newspapers, The Taos News and The Santa Fe New Mexican, won General Excellence.

Martin launched The Raton Comet in 2013.

Martin’s family has been involved in newspapers since her father, Robert McKinney bought The Santa Fe New Mexican in 1949, in the paper’s 100th year. She took over ownership on his death in 2001.

McKinney started The Taos News in 1959, and Martin became its owner in 1978. She bought the Sangre de Cristo Chronicle in 2006. Under Martin’s leadership, the newspapers have won numerous awards.

In addition, The Taos News received 36 awards from the New Mexico Press Association in news, advertising, digital and circulation categories.
