Valle Escondido will hold its annual fundraiser for Río Fernando Fire Department on Saturday (July 29). All proceeds go to the volunteer fire department that provides emergency services to Taos Canyon and the surrounding area.
Registration begins at 8 a.m. with a shotgun start at 9 a.m. There will be a hole-in-one contest with a $20,000 prize for a hole-in-one on the second hole. If no one makes a hole-in-one, there will be a special prize for closest to the pin. There will also be prizes for the longest men's drive on the first hole and the longest women's drive on the eighth hole.
Entry fees are $35, plus green fees for nonmembers. Mulligans are $5 each with a two-mulligan maximum.
Local merchants have donated prizes. In the past, prizes have included such items as dinner for two at local restaurants, resort hotel stays, free rounds of golf at area courses, hats, river rafting and many other items. Valle Escondido is located 12 miles east of Taos, off of U.S. 64, between Taos and Angel Fire. To sign up early, call the clubhouse at (575) 758-3475.
