The Questa School Board President states that “because of all those costs that took place two, three, four, five years ago, it’s costing the district right now.” What an attempt to shift blame! The school board, by law, must prepare and submit a balanced budget on an annual basis and if the current school board did that, they should have seen that problem then. Perhaps they were more interested in having up to six meetings a month in order to collect on $75 per meeting per board member. The record is there to see the number of board meetings this board has had: 5 x $75 x 6 x 12 = $27,000/yr. That would be a perfect area to consider considerable savings.
