Hunters gain access to 12K acres of prime habitat in Mora County

A joint venture by the New Mexico State Land Office, the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation and the Lineberry Foundation has opened access to the White Peak Area in Mora County, a wilderness home to deer, elk, turkey, bear and other species.

A 2.5-mile road ties in with existing logging and ranching roads and was constructed by a Mora contractor in Game Management Unit 48.

Additionally, the foundation paid for a 35-year right-of-way easement, preventing land commissioners from closing the road through 2052.
