Contractors are scheduled to begin paving of Valdez's Gallina Canyon Road (B-074) Tuesday (Oct. 10) at 9 a.m.
According to Steve Fuhlendorf, public information officer with Taos County, the entire paving process should take about four hours to complete, "providing everything goes smoothly with equipment, traffic and weather."
Fuhlendorf could not say if potential snows Monday (Oct. 9) would delay the project.
Gallina Canyon Road will be closed during the paving. But to minimize the traffic impacts to the community, trucks will be loaded with materials early Tuesday morning and equipment will be staged at the site, according to Fuhlendorf.
"The public is asked to use extreme caution in the area of Gallina Canyon Road and State Road 230, as heavy equipment will be in use," according to a press release from Taos County. Questions and concerns should be directed to Public Works director Ramon Pacheco at email@example.com or (575) 779-4112.
