Forest map price marked up before new version launches

Starting in 2018, maps produced by the U.S. Forest Service will go up in price from  $10 to $14.

But the new version of the Carson National Forest map, which was last updated in 2010, is still in production, according to Denise Ottaviano, public information officer with the Carson.

"We expect it to be published in 2018," Ottaviano said.

In a press release, the agency noted the price increase is the first such hike in a decade.

Digital maps are available for $4.99 per side and can be downloaded for mobile applications at avenza.com/pdf-maps/store.
